Our Story

My Little Bookshop began in 2015 with a simple dream - to help children grow up surrounded by beautiful stories, meaningful play, and a sense of wonder.
At a time when thoughtfully curated children's books by Indian authors and publishers were difficult to find, we set out to connect families with stories that reflected their own landscapes, languages, festivals, and experiences. What began as a small Facebook community for parents soon blossomed into an online store and a growing community of families who believe in a slower, more intentional approach to childhood.
Over the years, our collection has grown beyond books to include natural wooden toys, open-ended play materials, art and craft supplies, and DIY kits inspired by Waldorf principles. Long before these ideas became widely known in India, we were introducing families to the joy of imaginative play, natural materials, and childhood experiences that nurture creativity and curiosity.
Every item in our store is carefully chosen with intention. We work closely with passionate authors, publishers, artisans, and makers across India, sourcing our collection from places such as Maharashtra, Telangana, Chennai, Auroville, Karnataka, and beyond. By supporting local creators and small businesses, we celebrate the richness of Indian craftsmanship while offering children beautiful, sustainable alternatives to mass-produced toys and materials.
At the heart of My Little Bookshop is the belief that the stories children hear, the toys they hold, and the rhythms they experience help shape the way they see the world. This vision is deeply influenced by our founder's journey as an educator and the founder of Tulasi World of Kindergarten, a Waldorf-inspired learning community established in 2017.
Today, My Little Bookshop continues to be more than just a store. It is a thoughtfully curated space where families can discover books, toys, and resources that inspire imagination, support holistic development, and bring more beauty, creativity, and connection into everyday childhood.
Because we believe that childhood is not a race to be hurried through, but a journey to be cherished.
About the Founder
Divya B.A. is an early childhood educator with over 17 years of experience in Waldorf education. She is the founder of Tulasi Waldorf Kindergarten, established in 2017, where she integrates local festivals, food, stories, and language into the curriculum, staying true to Rudolf Steiner’s vision of culturally rooted learning. The kindergarten is recognised and listed by the International Association for Steiner/Waldorf Early Childhood Education (IASWECE).
Divya has completed her Waldorf Early Childhood Certification and is certified by the Sydney Rudolf Steiner College, Australia. As part of her ongoing professional development, she also attended the 100 Years of Early Childhood Conference in Dornach, Switzerland, alongside Waldorf educators from around the world.
In 2015, she launched My Little Bookshop, an online platform that curates Indian storybooks, open-ended toys, and Waldorf-inspired learning materials for young children and families. During the pandemic, she created Slow Down Mama, a parent education programme that supports families in bringing Waldorf principles into everyday home life through rhythm, storytelling, creative play, and mindful parenting.
Having trained under Waldorf mentors from around the world, Divya is committed to making alternative education meaningful, accessible, and practical for Indian families. Her work has been recognised for its contribution to sustainable and conscious parenting, and she was recently honoured by Green Mic on International Women’s Day for promoting mindful and eco-conscious approaches to raising young children.
